Christian Streich: "Gladbach are a good team, with a lot of individual quality. They run hard and have improved their pressing and their aggression against the ball. But we have no fear, we looked on par with Leverkusen too. We're all really ambitious, and would rather be tenth than thirteenth. Finishing in midtable is a good season for us. We've got the opportunity to do that, but we need points."
SCF will have to make do without Manuel Gulde on Friday evening, the defender is suffering from muscle strain. Janik Haberer is an option though, as is Lukas Kübler, who made his comeback against Leverkusen after more than seven months out. - reported by the official website of Freiburg
Freiburg have won 12 of their encounters to Gladbach’s 11. They have won four each in the last 10. Incredibly, in their last 23 meetings, there have been no home defeats. The last away win in the fixture was a 1-0 Gladbach triumph on 23 March 2002.
Freiburg have won 11 and lost just one of their last 17 home Bundesliga meetings with the Foals, and are unbeaten in the last 11 (W9), a club record run. They have scored 51 times in Bundesliga games against Gladbach, the joint-most in their history against any top-flight opponent.
Petersen’s nine league strikes make him Freiburg’s top scorer. He has struck four times in 11 meetings with Gladbach.

Marco Rose: We still have five games to go and we want to keep pushing, starting in Freiburg. We’ll obviously think about what our opponents bring to the pitch, but we also have to think about what we want to do, which worked well against Union Berlin. I don’t think Freiburg having two days’ extra rest than us plays a role. The body recovers after 72 hours and is ready to go again. We’re lucky to have lots of different goalscorers. To be the coach of a side playing successful football, you normally need one or two strikers who can score 20 or 25 goals. We have a lot of players contributing to that instead. We have several players close to ten goals and some with more. It demonstrates that we have good depth in attack and can react when, for example, someone like Embolo gets injured. We have a lot of faith in our forwards, as well as the entire squad. Now it’s about keeping it up for the final stretch. We’ve always said that our focus is on us and nothing has changed. We went two games without a win, but we managed to get all three points again against Union Berlin. Now it’s about kicking on and picking up more wins. There aren’t all that many games left and it’s all on the line. We have to perform rather than worry about how the table might look should this and that happen – only by putting in a good performance can we affect whether we win games or not. The games are coming thick and fast and every one sets us on a new course. Tomorrow evening, we have the chance to put us on course for success."
Denis Zakaria (knee) and Breel Embolo (calf) are still out. Fabian Johnson is back in team training, but isn’t an option for tomorrow. Raffael is fit again though and will be in the squad in Freiburg. - said head coach about the condition of players
Florian Neuhaus’ goal in the Matchday 29 win over Union was Gladbach’s 3,000th Bundesliga strike, a milestone only previously reached by Bayern Munich, Dortmund and Bremen.
Plea is the fourth player across Europe’s top five leagues to reach double figures for both goals and assists this season, after Bayern’s Serge Gnabry, Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho and Lionel Messi of Barcelona.
Plea and Thuram are the joint-leading scorers for Rose’s squad with 10 goals each.
