Team is playing an important cup game in mid-week
General H2H stats vs Gladbach (in all competitions): 5W 2D 0L
Home H2H stats vs Gladbach (in all competitions): 1W 2D 0L
Julian Nagelsmann: "This is a top top game that will be played between two equal sides. Both teams want to play attractive football. Both teams have a good mentality with a lot of offensive weaponry. The game starts at 0-0. Gladbach are good going forward and play with good tempo. They create a lot of opportunities to counterattack and press hard. Their development shows that they're doing a lot of good work over there. They're up there in the table. We've got some important, but not yet decisive weeks coming up - in the Bundesliga at least. In the DFB-Pokal next Tuesday, it's 'do or die'. It will be a strange match-up given that we lost there in our last leage match. So we have't given ourselves the best starting point in the league, this is why it's so important to get better results against Gladbach and Bayern."
Lukas Klostermann, Marcel Sabitzer and Konrad Laimer picked up slight knocks at the start of the week, but are back in training and in contention to start on Saturday. Marcel Halstenberg has picked up four yellow cards and is one away from a suspension. Long-term absentees Willi Orban, Kevin Kampl and Ibrahima Konaté are still out. Kampl's return to first-team training is predicted to take place at the beginning of march. Konaté is already training individuallly, the coaching staff see him returning at some point in February. Matheus Cunha is still away with the Brazil U23s until February. - reported by the official website of RB Leipzig
Leipzig have won their past four fixtures with the Foals – their longest winning streak against a current Bundesliga club.
This fixture has never ended goalless.
Werner would make history if he were to score a hat-trick: no other player has had 23 goals after 20 games in Bundesliga history. He got all three in Leipzig's win in Gladbach earlier this season.

Team has very poor head to head stats against this opponent
Everyone is available to feature, with the exception of Ramy Bensebaini and Tony Jantschke, who are both still injured. As a result, we will have to make some unpopular decisions yet again this weekend. We have a solid week of training behind us. All of the players were highly motivated. But, in the end, only 11 of them are able to start. Decisions about the starting line up are based on performances from the previous match, training levels and the challenges that our upcoming opponents will pose. As a coaching staff, we spend a lot of time thinking about and discussing this topic. There is no preferential treatment given to any players. Everyone needs to feel that we can achieve something together this season, and needs to accept this. - said head coach about the condition of players
Marco Rose: "There are fewer and fewer matches remaining. If you want to stay at the top, then you have to win those difficult games. That’s the step we want to try to take. We’re coming off a win and are taking a certain level of self-confidence with us to Leipzig. There, we will have to deliver another strong performance and prove that we’re building on those three points from Mainz. In the reverse fixture we brought a lot of what we want to see from ourselves to the pitch. In the end, we were lacking certain finishing touches. That’s what counts in the end, and what doesn’t feel so good. We want to do better in Leipzig on Saturday and win the match. In order to do so, we will need to be extremely efficient. We will have to put in that extra effort. We will also need to be brave and keep our opponents busy. If we find ourselves only playing against the ball, then we will not be successful. Every team will have to deal with injury problems over the course of the season. Nearly every Leipzig player that’s fit and could feature defensively plays for their country. They are a team that does not allow a lot of space on defence. The fact that they are missing the one or the other defender will not make things easier for us."
Gladbach are the only club yet to beat Leipzig in the Bundesliga in seven previous attempts (five RB wins, two draws).
Gladbach have the meanest defence in the Bundesliga, with just 21 goals conceded.
These sides have been top of the Bundesliga for a combined total of 16 out of 19 Matchdays this season.
